First Time and Beginner Triathletes
Welcome to the Center Beginner Triathlon Train to Complete Your First Triathlon group page! Join us to follow a training regimen designed to prepare you to complete your very first sprint length triathlon this June.
A triathlon is an endurance event in which a person first swims a specified length, then rides a bike for a set distance, then ends the event by completing a run. Triathlons come in all shapes and sizes. The shortest ones are called sprint triathlons. A sprint triathlon usually has a 500 meter swim, a 13 mile bike ride and a 3.2 mile run. A beginner could complete this event easily in less than two and a half hours.
Next there is the Olympic Distance triathlon. This event usually has a 1,000 meter swim, a 25 mile bike ride and a 6.2 mile run. This could take a beginner roughly 4 hours to finish.
Finally there are Iron and Half Iron triathlons. An Iron Triathlon stacks a 2.4 mile swim with a 112 mile bike ride and finishes off with a full length marathon (26.2 mile run). You can probably guess what a Half Iron is.
The purpose of this program will be to get you prepared to complete a sprint triathlon on June 4, 2016.
Why do this? It is our belief that when we set goals, even goals that appear at first glance to be physically impossible, and we achieve them, we grow personally and professionally in immeasurable ways.
In addition, training for a triathlon causes you to get in the best shape imaginable. Since you will be focusing on 3 events, you’ll get a full body workout each week and you won’t get into a training rut.
